“ The idea isn’t to hold on, or mentally catalogue. It’s about allowing sensory information to wash over me, unmuted by everyday distractions. I simply let go, and feel. ~ S.”
“ It is while running or thinking of running, Hall said, that he feels most conversant with and dependent on God.”
This week was also a bust. I blame work and the intense humidity we’ve been experiencing in this region. I did two push-up sessions and ran three 7k+ but it still felt off. Not happy at all with my running. But, I will continue to push myself. I also ate horribly this week. I need to integrate more green/vegetables into my diet. It’s not a lack of access. It’s a lack of planning and laziness with my meal preparations for work. I will try harder. I will run more. I will eat less crap.
“Korima sounds like karma and functions the same way, except in the here and now. It’s your obligation to share whatever you can spare, instantly and with no expectations: once the gift leaves your hand, it was never yours to begin with. The Tarahumara have no monetary system, so korima is how they do business: their economy is based on trading favors and the occasional cauldron of corn beer.” ~ pg. 37 - Born to Run by Christopher McDougall

Only managed a single run this week (still plenty of time left to work in some more sessions) but the good thing about the 100 PushUps program is that you can do them in less than 10-15 minutes. This works out well for me as I have long hours and busy days. So waking up early in the morning and crunching out 100 push-ups makes you feel like you’ve done something good for your body.
When you work the hours I work, you have to find time to do the things you love to do. And sometimes you have to break up your routine. I wish I had an hour and a half of free time every day where I can just do whatever I want for as long as I want but this is hard to do with work, family, daily-chores, etc. So doing something fitness oriented in the morning and then in the evening (‘bookending it’ as I call it) is something you have to learn how to do. Will go for a run this evening and complete today’s minimum requirement for physical fitness/activity.
“ Sometimes when I run, I pretend I’m a super hero. Usually Superman, which is odd as The Flash would be more appropriate. But, Superman it is. I think it’s the cape. I like to imagine myself running with a cape. Maybe I should wear a cape the next time I run.”
Shit is getting real over at Reading Ardor. Also, we’re drawing near to the end of our project. :( So get in on the crazy Nabokov love while there’s still crazy to be had.
