You’ll be proud…hopefully. I’m on week 5 of my run program. I really like it. I’m going to get new shoes at running room tomorrow. ~ E.
I received this in a text a few days ago. And I cannot relate to you how much it warms my heart. E is a dear friend of mine. We do not often have too much time to spend with one another but we always find three or four coffee visits throughout the year. Our friendship is bound up in Shakespeare, coffee, & serious conversations about how fucked up most of society is.
We’ve talked many times about my running transformation and E has expressed interest in exercising more seriously. I’ve told her of what works for me and provided a little advice. The thing is, there’s only one bit of advice that works: ‘you have to want to change and it’s all on you.‘
Getting this text randomly in the middle of the night was a pleasant surprise. I’m proud of you friend and I hope that this feeling sticks with you and that you continue to push yourself forward. It’s not about weight-loss (though that’s a positive result), it’s more about having an active life and a form of stress-relief. I hope that you’ve found your “thing”.
Stay focused, stay positive. Enjoy the run.
